Mithun Chakraborty, also known as Mithun (born August 5, 1954), is an Indian film actor, director and producer. He has acted in more than 500 films. He was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2001 for his contribution to the field of arts. He won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in the film "Ami Raina" (1988). He has also received seven Filmfare Awards, six Filmfare Critics' Awards, three Filmfare Awards South and a Special Jury Award for Best Actor in a Comic Role at the Dubai International Film Festival, a Special Jury Award for Best Actor in a Comic Role at the Mumbai International Film Festival and also won a BFJA Award at the Mumbai International Film Festival.
